Stallions Secure First USFL Conference Victory With 20-13 Win Over Michigan Panthers

DETROIT, Mich. - The Birmingham Stallions improved to 2-0 on the season with a 20-13 win over the Michigan Panthers in a showdown that came down to the final seconds.


The Stallions continued utilizing two quarterbacks, similar to game one. Adrian Martinez threw for 88 yards and rushed for 65 on eight attempts. Matt Corral started the game and went 5-for-12 passing, good for 53 yards. C.J. Marable chipped in 54 rushing yards while Ricky Person Jr. finished with 14 yards rushing and one touchdown.


Birmingham’s receiving core put up an impressive effort headed by Marlon Williams, Deon Cain, and C.J. Marable. Williams ended the game with 32 receiving yards on three receptions. Cain finished with 30 receiving yards on three catches. Marable tallied 29 receiving yards, as well. 


Chris Blewitt led the team in scoring going a perfect 4-for-4 on field goals.


The defensive front showed out with several run stops. Lorenzo Burns led the team with seven tackles (six solo). Scooby Wright, DeMarquis Gates, Carlos Davis, Chris Jakson and Mark Gilbert each tallied four tackles for the Stallions. Davis led the team in sacks with two on the day.
