Game Day Schedule

  • Parking Lots Open:
    • Four (4) hours prior to kickoff
  • Fan Tailgates Open: 
    • Four (4) hours prior to kickoff
    • Located in West Lot 5 
  • Houston Roughnecks Team Welcome and Stadium Arrival:
    • Approximately three (3) hours prior to kickoff
    • Located: Between Rice Stadium Entry Gate 1 (southwest side of the stadium) and Rice Stadium Entry Gate 4 (southeast side of the stadium), in the South Stadium Parking Lot
  • Roughnecks Fan Fest Open:
    • Two (2) hours prior to kickoff
    • Located: outside of Rice Stadium Entry Gate 1 (southwest side of the stadium)
  • Rice Stadium Entry Gates Open: 
    • 90 minutes prior to kickoff

Rice Stadium Entry

  • Every person entering Rice Stadium must have a ticket; except children 2 years and under.
    • Children must not be unaccompanied.
  • Re-entry is not allowed at Rice Stadium, for Houston Roughnecks games. 
    • Once you leave the stadium, you will not be allowed to re-enter the stadium.
    • Any exceptions will be communicated by Stadium staffing during the course of the game.
  • Rice Stadium is a smoke-free property. Smoking is prohibited in every area of the Rice University Campus, including surrounding sidewalks and plaza spaces. This includes e-cigarettes and vape devices.
  • Stadium Entry Gate 1: Public Entry Gate
    • Ticket Sales (Credit Card only), Public Will Call, Credential Distribution and Media Will Call will be located in the log cabin just outside of Gate 1.
    • Located: Southwest side of the stadium
    • Roughnecks Fan Fest will be located outside of Gate 1.
  • Stadium Entry Gate 2: Not a Public Entry Gate
  • Stadium Entry Gate 3: Public Entry Gate
    • Located: Northeast side of the stadium
  • Stadium Entry Gate 4: Public Entry Gate
    • Located: Southeast side of the stadium

Rice Stadium is committed to creating a safe, comfortable and enjoyable experience for all guests. Our staff will proactively support an environment free from the following behaviors:

  • Abusive, foul or disruptive language and obscene gestures.
    • Foul/abusive language and/or rowdy behavior will not be tolerated and will be cause for ejection and/or arrest.
    • Notify the nearest usher immediately if actions of this type occur near you.
  • Intoxication or other signs of impairment related to alcoholic consumption.
  • The use or sale of illegal drugs.
  • Smoking, including e-cigarettes, and the use of chewing tobacco.
  • Throwing, fighting, taunting or threatening remarks or gestures.
  • Sitting in a location other than the guest’s ticketed seat.
    • Sit only in your assigned seat to avoid inconveniencing other guests.
    • Provide mobile/digital tickets for ushers to verify proper seat location.
    • Adults should ensure that children are in possession of their own ticket.
      • This will facilitate reuniting the child with parents should they become separated.
  • Displays of affection not appropriate in a public setting.
  • Obscene or indecent clothing.
  • Prolonged standing in accessible seating areas, aisles or in sections.
    • Keep aisles clear at all times: emergency situations require that stairways be kept clear.
    • Guests sitting or standing in the aisles jeopardize the safety of others.
  • Any disruptions to the progress of the event.
    • Entering the playing field without authorization or throwing objects is a violation of Rice Stadium rules and may prove hazardous.
    • Offenders will be ejected and subject to arrest and prosecution.
  • Ticket scalping.
  • Trespassing, soliciting, peddling and/or loitering.
  • Any other actions deemed dangerous or inappropriate.

Continuing inappropriate behavior may result in the guest having his/her tickets revoked, being ejected from Rice University’s campus or arrested by police. All season ticket holders are responsible for their conduct as well as the conduct of their guests and/or persons using their tickets. Violators of the rules of any state or city laws will be refused admission, asked to leave or be ejected from the property. Guests are encouraged to report issues and concerns of conduct to a nearby event staff member.

Accessibility

Accessible Seating, designated for guests with disabilities who use wheelchairs, other mobility devices, or otherwise require the use of the features of accessible seating (e.g., a guest with a service animal that requires the additional space offered by accessible seating), is available for all events held at Rice Stadium.

  • ADA seating tickets are first come, first served and up to (1) companion ticket for every (1) accessible ticket. Seat relocations may also be available on event day.
  • If a guest needs assistance with ADA relocation, please visit the Ticket Services booth.
    • Tickets will be swapped out for ADA seating on a first come, first served basis: up to (1) companion ticket for every (1) accessible ticket based on availability.

Clear Bag Policy

  • A clear bag at 12"x6"x12" (LxWxH) or 1 Gallon sized ziploc bag or a small clutch at 4.5"x6.5" (LxW) no thicker than 3.5".
  • Wristlets must not be over 4.5"x6.5" (LxW) and no thicker than 3.5".
    • This policy is subject to change without notice.
    • All measurements are US Customary units in inches.
  • Metal detector screening, including a search of all items being carried into the stadium will take place at the entry gates. Rice Stadium will not store or safeguard any prohibited bags or items. Guests will be asked to return prohibited items to their vehicle.
    • Rice Stadium and the Houston Roughnecks will not be responsible for any items left behind, lost, stolen or damaged.
  • Exceptions may be made for medically necessary items after proper inspection at the entry gate.
  • Seat cushions without pockets, zippers or concealable items must not exceed 18 inches.

Concessions

  • Rice Stadium will offer “Grab and Go” concessions, on east and west concourses.
  • Rice Stadium will offer a bar, at the 50 yard line on the east and west concourses.
  • Rice Stadium will be a cashless venue for the 2024 Houston Roughnecks season.
    • Please be prepared to purchase concessions via a credit card.

Customer Experience Service

The Houston Roughnecks Customer Sales and Experience team will be located near Rice Stadium Entry Gate 4, under the Houston Roughnecks tent. The Customer Experience team can assist with Fan Experiences, future ticket sales, ticket questions and customer service needs.

Emergency Contact Number for Rice University

Emergency calls should be directed to Rice University Police Department, by calling 713-348-6000, instead of calling911, to ensure a quicker response to your needs. 

  • Security escort service is also available. 
  • Calls to 911 will have to be redirected to RUPD, calling 713-348-6000 is the quickest way to receive help while on campus.

Merchandise

Houston Roughnecks merchandise can be found in two different locations:

  • Roughnecks Fan Fest Merchandise Trailer: Located outside of Rice Stadium Entry Gate 1 (southwest side of the stadium)
  • Rice Stadium Merchandise Kiosk: Located in the northeast corner of Rice Stadium, near Entry Gate 3

  • Recording Devices (professional cameras, flash photography, tripods, etc.)
  • Animals / Pets (Exception: service animals)
  • Banners, signs or flags
  • Balls may not thrown inside the Stadium concourse or seating areas
  • Coolers
  • Drones
  • Fireworks
  • Folding chairs
  • Outside Food and Beverages
  • Noise-making devices of any kind (air horns, whistles, etc.)
  • Oversized bags, backpacks or large purses (see the above clear bag policy)
  • Laser Pointers
  • Skateboards or rollerblades
  • Smoking devices (i.e. Cigarettes, E-Cigarettes, Vapes, etc.)
  • Tobacco Products
  • Illegal Drugs
  • Umbrellas
  • Weapons of any kind (i.e. knives, pepper spray, tear gas, handcuffs, stun guns, etc.)
  • Any other item deemed to be inappropriate or dangerous by Rice University

Personal Photography (Still photography only)

  • Fans may bring personal cameras to shoot still photographs at Rice Stadium provided:
  • They shoot from their seat and do not stand in aisles or walkways, block the view of any other person, move to seats other than their own, or attempt to access any areas designated for the media.
  • Their camera (and any additional equipment including camera bag) does not impede or interfere with the ability of those sitting in their immediate vicinity to watch the game.
  • Tripods and flash photography are not permitted.
  • Video cameras are not permitted.
  • Photos are for personal use only.

Restroom Facilities

Restrooms are located on the main concourse of the Stadium, on the east and west sides of Rice Stadium.

Smoking / Tobacco

Rice Stadium is a smoke-free property. Smoking is prohibited in every area of the Rice University Campus, including surrounding sidewalks and plaza spaces. This includes e-cigarettes and vape devices.

Lost and Found

Please contact an event staff member with lost or stolen items. Lost or stolen items will be collected by our event staff team and held within their office on the south end of the stadium.

Upper Deck Seating

Rice Stadium’s upper deck will not be available for Houston Roughnecks games. No patrons will be allowed to access the upper deck.

Lost Children and Guests

Parents looking for a lost child should check with the nearest event staff member. Lost children will be escorted to the south endzone concourse, underneath the R Room (south endzone covered area) to be reunited with their parents. For safety reasons, Rice University is unable to make facility wide announcements for lost children and guests.
