  • Named Rose Bowl MVP after throwing four touchdown passes in the 45-9 win over Illinois. 
  • Finished as one of the school’s most efficient passers and set NCAA records for completion percentage. 

Spring Football Player Career:

  • Played quarterback for the San Antonio Gunslingers of  the United States Football League (USFL) in the mid-1980’s. 

Coaching Career:

  • Began coaching as a graduate assistant at UCLA in 1986 and worked his way up to quarterbacks coach and wide receivers coach. 
  • Head coach at the University of Colorado (1995-1998), University of Washington (1999-2002), and UCLA (2008-2011), with 87 victories and multiple bowl game appearances. 
  • Served on the Baltimore Ravens coaching staff as quarterbacks coach and offensive coordinator (2005-2007). 
  • Returned to UCLA as their head coach from 2008-2011, led the Bruins to a Pac-12 South Division title in 2011. 
  • Head coach of the Arizona Hotshots on the AAF 2019. 

Personal Life:

  • Born February 7, 1961, in Madison, Wisconsin, and raised in Tempe, Arizona. 
  • Holds both undergraduate and law degrees, distinguishing him as one of the more academically accomplished figures in football coaching.
