2024

• He ended the 2024 season with 37 tackles (22 solos, 15 assists) and two sacks during seven games for the Stallions. 
• Gates re-signed with the Stallions in September 2024, beginning his third stint in Birmingham.

 

Prior to the Stallions

• A standout linebacker from Ole Miss, made his mark in college football by leading the team in tackles from 2015 to 2017, earning recognition as the first player to do so since Abdul Jackson in the early '90s.
• After going undrafted in the 2018 NFL Draft, Gates embarked on a resilient professional journey, showcasing his talents across multiple leagues and teams, including stints with the Cleveland Browns, Memphis Express, Washington Redskins, Houston Roughnecks and Minnesota Vikings.
• His journey also took him to the Canadian Football League (CFL), where he contributed to the Saskatchewan Roughriders during the shortened 2021 regular season.
• Gates joined the Birmingham Stallions in 2022 before venturing briefly into the NFL with the Chicago Bears. He returned to the Stallions for a second stint in 2024.
