ARLINGTON, TX – September 16, 2026 – The Louisville Kings will host the UFL season opener on March 26, 2027, this time, as champions.
In their brief history, this marks the second straight season the Kings will open the UFL schedule at Lynn Family Stadium on FOX UFL Friday at 8 PM ET. Only this time, they’ll enter the building with a championship to defend.
The Kings hosted the 2026 UFL opener, a historic night as the franchise officially began its journey. It was a night they’d quickly like to forget. Louisville fell in the season opener and stumbled to a 1-3 start, leaving plenty of questions surrounding a first-year franchise and first-year head coach Chris Redman.
Redman answered those questions with change. The hometown legend handed the quarterback reins to Chandler Rogers while making several personnel and staffing changes throughout the organization. The moves were questioned at the time, but the results came quickly.
With Rogers under center, the Kings traveled to Dallas in Week 5 and dominated the Renegades, who entered the matchup as the UFL’s top team. It was the turning point. Louisville won five of its final six regular-season games, earned the third seed, and entered the postseason with legitimate championship aspirations.
Despite the odds stacked against them, Redman’s team never blinked. The Kings went into St. Louis and conquered the Battlehawks in The Battledome, punching their ticket to the United Bowl.
Then came Washington, D.C. Louisville erased a halftime deficit with a 20-point second half to defeat the Defenders and claim the 2026 UFL championship, the first title in franchise history in their first season.
Now, the Kings will begin their title defense exactly where their story began. Lynn Family Stadium will host the first game of the 2027 UFL season on March 26, as Louisville opens the league’s first edition of Friday Night Football.
One year after beginning their history with a loss, the Kings will begin their title defense under the lights as the team everyone is chasing.
