ARLINGTON, TX – October 5, 2026 – Andre Szmyt delivered his signature moment with the Cleveland Browns under the Thursday Night Football lights. Szmyt connected on a game-winning kick, while KaVontae Turpin continued to make a strong impact in the return game, and Jake Bates was perfect on Sunday Night Football.
Szmyt delivered an NFL career-long 56-yard field goal in the waning moments of Week 4’s Thursday Night Football matchup on Prime Video. With just 15 seconds remaining and the Pittsburgh Steelers and Cleveland Browns knotted at 24, Browns head coach Todd Monken sent Szmyt out for a distance he had yet to reach in the NFL, and he left no doubt.

The kick marked the third game-winning field goal of Szmyt’s NFL career in just his second season, and helped the Browns earn their third straight victory. While 56 yards marked a new NFL career high, Szmyt had already exceeded that mark during his time in the UFL, crushing a 61-yarder for the St. Louis Battlehawks.
In Houston, KaVontae Turpin and the Dallas Cowboys pulled off a crucial victory in the Battle of Texas. Turpin was once again a weapon in the return game, consistently applying pressure on the Texans’ coverage units. The former New Jersey General returned five kicks for 147 yards, including a long of 48 yards, while adding four punt returns for 47 yards.

Turpin’s impact on special teams played a major role in Dallas’ nail-biting victory over Houston on Sunday.
Despite a loss on Sunday Night Football, Jake Bates delivered his strongest performance of the season for the Detroit Lions. Bates converted all four of his field goal attempts, including a 54-yard make in the first half.

The former Birmingham Stallion remains perfect on field goal attempts to open the 2026 NFL campaign and will look to keep it that way when the Lions travel to Arizona in Week 5.
Week 4 continues Monday night, as the New Orleans Saints and Atlanta Falcons square off in an NFC South clash. Jayden Price and Kevin Austin Jr. represent the Saints, while LeCale London and Chris Blair represent the Falcons.
