UFL Alumni Watch: NFL Week 5

ARLINGTON, TX (October 8, 2026) – For the second consecutive week, UFL alumni have established a new season high on NFL rosters, with 51 former UFL players currently on active rosters or practice squads entering Week 5 of the NFL season.

Highlights from Week 4 include Cleveland Browns kicker Andre Szmyt (St. Louis Battlehawks), connecting on a 56-yard field goal with 10 seconds remaining to give Cleveland a victory over Pittsburgh. Dallas Cowboys returner KaVontae Turpin (New Jersey Generals) returned five kickoffs for 147 yards and ranks second in the NFL with 422 kickoff-return yards this season. Green Bay Packers punter Daniel Whelan (DC Defenders) now leads the NFL with 12 punts inside the opponents’ 20-yard line.

Orlando Storm | Kansas State

  • Joined the Orlando Storm during the 2026 season but did not appear in a game. He now returns to the NFL after spending the 2025 season with the Denver Broncos. 
  • Originally selected by the Dallas Cowboys in the sixth round (212th overall) of the 2023 NFL Draft where he appeared in nine games over two seasons with the Cowboys, rushing for 110 yards on 40 carries while adding 10 receptions for 58 yards. He also contributed as a return specialist during his NFL career.
  • A standout at Kansas State, Vaughn finished his collegiate career with 3,604 rushing yards and 1,280 receiving yards, becoming one of the most productive all-purpose players in school history. He earned consensus All-American honors in 2022.
  • 2026 NFL Preseason - Appeared in one preseason game for Houston, carrying the ball 12 times for 36 yards. Signed to practice squad 10/7.
