  • Also finished 7-3 in 2023, tied for the second-best record in the XFL.
  • In 2025, improved the team to an 8-2 record and another postseason run. 

NFL Playing Career (2000-2010)

  • Selected in the first round (27th overall) of the 2000 NFL Draft by the New York Jets.
  • Played 11 seasons at tight end in the NFL with the New York Jets, Tampa Bay Buccaneers, St. Louis Rams, Arizona Cardinals, and Kansas City Chiefs. 
  • From 2000 to 2010, played in 152 consecutive games – the third-longest streak in the NFL during that span, trailing only Brett Favre and Peyton Manning. 

Broadcasting & Football Leadership

  • Worked as a college football analyst for ESPN following his playing career. 
  • Hosted the New York Jets pregame show before being promoted to their radio color analyst in 2024.
  • Coached tight ends in the NFLPA Collegiate Bowl and later served in the same role with the San Diego Fleet of the Alliance of American Football in 2018. 

College Career (West Virginia)

  • Graduate of West Virginia University and one of the most accomplished tight ends in program history. 
  • Named the Mountaineers’ Most Valuable Player in 1999. 
  • Recipient of the John Russell Award. 
  • Inducted into the West Virginia University Hall of Fame in 2024.
