ORLANDO, FL (August 5, 2026) – Orlando Storm cornerback D.J. James has signed a contract with the New York Giants of the National Football League, the team announced today.
James (6-0, 181, Auburn) becomes the third Orlando player to sign an NFL contract since the UFL's 2026 offseason signing period opened June 15, joining Keshawn Banks (Atlanta Falcons) and Cam Camper (New York Jets).
Registering a pick-six interception in his Week Seven debut with the Storm, James finished with three tackles and three pass breakups in four regular season and one playoff game for Orlando.
A sixth round pick (192nd overall) of the Seattle Seahawks in the 2024 NFL Draft, James later spent time on the New England Patriots practice squad before signing with Orlando. James began his collegiate career at Oregon, appearing in 34 games before transferring to Auburn. He started 22 games for the Tigers, totaling 75 tackles, three interceptions and 21 pass breakups while earning Second Team All-SEC honors in 2022. Over his five-year collegiate career, James made 40 starts and appeared in 58 games.
The Orlando Storm retain the rights to James should he return to the UFL in the future.
